Where is the Love for Ken Griffey?

Chuck at Sportaphile.com asks, “Where’s All The Hoopla For Ken Griffey Jr’s 600th Home Run?”

A very good question. Playing in small-market Cincinnati is probably a factor — as is playing for a nondescript losing team, that is pretty much always in upheaval.

Also, unlike Sosa or Bonds, Griffey is not a self-promoting buffoon; this will hold you back in the PR world.

Whatever the reasons, it really is shameful that a man can approach a milestone like 600 home runs — with zero controversy throughout his career re: PEDs — without much fanfare in the media. But they’re probably busy, what with busting Miguel Tejada’s chops over a phony birth certificate, and all.
