Super Bowl XLII: Giants 17, Patriots 14

What a game! Easily one of the best Super Bowls I’ve ever seen, and I’ve just about seen them all, since the Joe Namath “guarantee” game against the Colts in Super Bowl III.

OK, admittedly, there haven’t really been a lot of great Super Bowls. But this was still a really good game, where no team lead by more than 4 points, and 3 touchdowns were scored in the fourth quarter, each of them causing a lead change, and two of those in the last 3 minutes.

Football really doesn’t get any better than this, for my money.

Giants QB Eli Manning was MVP, and deservedly so. He played great, made almost no mistakes, and made the big plays when needed. Nobody is quite sure how he got so good, so quickly, over the last couple of months, after struggling so much in the 2+ years as a starter before that. But I’m happy for him; he seems like a good kid, and besides, I think Tom Brady has had enough good fortune to last him a few years yet. 😉
