The Bears got destroyed by the Giants last night 17-3. And it wasn’t as close as the score indicates. But to be fair, that can happen sometimes, even to good teams.
My suspicion, however, is that this is not a good team, and that what we saw last night is much closer to who they really are than the 3-0 start, a mirage in the desert if there ever was one.
And I suspect that because of one very simple fact: the O-line is bad. Which I’ve said before, multiple times. And the line has gotten worse over the last 3 years, not better.
So. Here we are. The Bears have a bad O-line. And why do they have a bad O-line? Because Jerry Angelo is bad at being a GM.
He’s bad at evaluating talent, and he’s bad at hiring people who evaluate talent. And he’s bad at hiring head coaches. And how do we know this? Because he’s proven it to us with the empirical results of his decisions.
There isn’t a lot more to be discovered, here.
And since hiring people who evaluate talent, and hiring the head coach, are his two primary responsibilities, he needs fired ASAP.
But whoever hired him needs fired as well. Getting rid of Angelo and everybody below him doesn’t help if Ted Phillips, or whoever hires the GM, goes out and finds another disaster to run the team. The “leadership” of this team is awful, all the way up to the ownership level. And why fans put up with it, I have no idea.
Sell the team. Please. We beg you, Virginia McCaskey. The old man has been gone nearly 27 years now. It’s time.
The whole NFL was watching that game last night, and is now laughing at you.
