‘Reckless Endangerment’ by Gretchen Morgenson and Joshua Rosner (Washington Post book review)
Another one for the Books I Need To Read pile.
The mortgage meltdown story goes back a long, long way, and has lots of players, and to just dump blame at the feet of Wall Street is a mistake. Government intervention, in the form of regulations and economic subsidies and fiscal policy, played a major role, some would say the primary role.
The more I learn about government meddling in economic and social experiments, the more it seems to almost always cause more problems than it solves.
